What is Saniderm?
Saniderm is basically a medical-grade bandage that seals off your tattoo from bacteria, dirt, and other debris. When using Saniderm properly you won’t have to worry about germs getting onto freshly inked skin and possibly causing an infection.
You can think of Saniderm almost like a “synthetic scab” that gives your tattoo the perfect environment to properly heal. It even decreases friction between the tattoo and surfaces like bedsheets and clothes.
If you’re the type of person that tattoos really well but heals like a mess then Saniderm could be just what you’re looking for.
Why is Saniderm Different?
The standard recommendation for tattoo care is to remove the wrapping from your new ink after just 4-8 hours so that it can dry naturally. You are then told to wash it periodically and avoid water exposure. You’re also supposed to use a light layer of ointment on it. You can expect the healing process to take a few weeks.
Saniderm is different than this. First of all, the bandage goes on for 8-24 hours and is taken off when the build-up of lymph (clear fluid) breaks the seal. You then wash the area thoroughly before applying a second bandage. Monitor the tattoo for more seeping. If there is additional seeping then wash the tattoo and repeat the process with another Saniderm bandage.
With Saniderm you never use any ointment or creams. You also don’t air dry the tattoo.
What are the Benefits of Saniderm?

- Won’t leave any permanent marks or damage the tattoo
- Can be applied to anywhere on the body
- Doesn’t interrupt the natural healing process
- Keeps the tattoo moist by not allowing oxygen to create scabs
